Thomas's Story
Life
Thomas Lee Hamm II is an exhibiting member of The Charleston ArtistÂs Guild, The Mount Pleasant ArtistÂs Guild, and The Folly Beach ArtistÂs Guild. He has been invited to demonstrate for the Goose Creek and Berkeley County ArtistÂs Guilds, as well as the Folly Beach Artists Guild and the South Carolina Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He has been very active within these guilds for the last few years and has participated in several juried and outdoor shows. His piece ÂA MomentÂs Respite won Second Place at the 12th Annual Old Santee Canal Fine Arts Exhibition in the mixed media category. on Arts Festival. He was recently selected as one of thirty artists to display in the South Carolina AquariumÂs ÂJust Art With Sharks exhibit. His piece "Makin Tracks" won Third Place at the 2004 North Charleston Fine Arts Exhibition, as well as an Honorable Mention for his piece "Restrictive Rust."
His main focus is nature, botanicals and wildlife, as beauty and truth are found in even the simplest natural forms, however he also paints architectural pieces and landscapes. He paints mostly in watercolor, but occasionally switches to acrylics, gouaches, pencils, inks or oils.
By trade he is a graphic artist and printer. He works from a small studio on James Island, SC, where he lives with his wife and daughter.
